LDPE

LLDPE
Linear low density polyethylene is also one of the most commonly used packaging films in the packaging industry. The reduction in density is due to the use of comonomers that add side groups to the main chain, which act like branches by reducing crystallinity. LLDPE is also a soft, flexible material with a hazy appearance. At the same density and thickness, LLDPE has higher impact strength, tensile strength, puncture resistance and elongation than LDPE.

Ethylene-Butyl Acrylate (EBA) copolymers are produced by reacting ethylene with butyl acrylate. These copolymers combine high load acceptance, excellent toughness, thermal stability, flexibility and adhesion over a range of temperatures.

It is used in the manufacture of pipes and tubes, in wire and cable compounds and in hot-melt adhesive formulations. In addition, they can be used to manufacture tough, flexible injection-moulded and extruded articles.

EVOH
Ethylene vinyl alcohol (EVOH) is a formal copolymer of ethylene and vinyl alcohol. The copolymer is obtained by polymerising ethylene and vinyl acetate. EVOHs with a high ethylene content have lower extrusion temperatures. EVOH is commonly used as an oxygen barrier in food packaging.

Due to its high oxygen and gas barrier properties, food packaging manufacturers use EVOH in their packaging structures to extend the shelf life of food products.
Medical
EVOH is used in a liquid embolic system in interventional radiology, for example in Onyx. Dissolved in dimethyl sulphoxide (DMSO) and mixed with a radiopaque substance, the ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer is used to embolise blood vessels.
